Horimiya: Piece

Returning to the halls of Katagiri High, this 2023 Cloverworks production trades a linear, driving plot for relaxed, episodic hangouts. Operating as a companion series rather than a strict continuation, Horimiya: Piece collects leftover chapters from the original manga to fill in the gaps between major events. The result is a comfortable, character-driven viewing experience centered firmly on friendship and family life. The achronological structure hops between different points in the school year, allowing the ensemble cast to shine in offhand, comedic situations. Frequently leaning into chibi art styles and exaggerated facial distortion, the comedy hits a lighthearted tone that prioritizes daily interactions over heavy drama. Fans of the main series will appreciate seeing the female protagonist and her friends simply exist in their natural element. Across its 13 episodes, this slice-of-life entry serves as a cozy, low-stakes return to a beloved setting.
