About Kimi ni Todoke
A shy high school girl, misunderstood because of her appearance, tries to make genuine connections while the awkward pull of first love gathers around her. Kimi ni Todoke builds its story from small social victories: a conversation that finally goes right, a friendship tested by rumors, or the courage to join in with classmates. Its boy-meets-girl thread sits beside bullying, angst, character-driven drama, and everyday school life, giving the romance room to grow at a patient pace. Baseball and bicycle imagery add familiar touches to the setting without pulling attention from the cast. Released as a 25-episode TV series in 2009, the show comes from Production I.G. and carries an 8.1 score. Viewers who enjoy gentle emotional progression may find its sincerity more rewarding than flashy romantic twists.
