Romeo x Juliet

GONZO's 2007 adaptation takes the title romance of classic literature and places it in an alternative world built for action, betrayal, and sweeping angst. Across 24 TV episodes, Romeo x Juliet combines the familiar boy-meets-girl premise with archery, cross-dressing, and conflicts that push love against loyalty. The connection to Shakespeare's play gives the series a recognizable emotional skeleton, while the fantasy setting allows it to reshape that material into something more openly adventurous. Its call-my-name motif points toward a romance driven by recognition and identity, not only courtship. Expect a heightened presentation: dramatic reversals, theatrical feeling, and action scenes sharing space with the central relationship. With a 7.6 score, this is a more uneven but potentially rewarding choice for viewers who enjoy literary adaptations that take visible liberties while preserving the ache of forbidden love.
