Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso

Released by A-1 Pictures in 2014, Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso is a finished 22-episode TV anime built around a boy-meets-girl premise. That familiar starting point sits beside a surprisingly eclectic set of catalog tags: manga adaptation, awards, CGI, ancient China, Asia, and association football. Rather than presenting those labels as a single tidy genre box, the series invites curiosity about how its central relationship and broader references share the same space. The 8.6 score places it among the strongest-rated titles in this group, and its later adaptation into a Japanese movie and other media points to a story with reach beyond its original format. At 22 episodes, it has enough room for character-focused pacing without becoming a major time commitment. Viewers looking for a polished, emotionally attentive adaptation may find this a rewarding starting point for romance-oriented anime.
