Aria the Origination

Hal Film Maker returned in the winter of 2008 to conclude the beloved slice-of-life saga with thirteen final episodes. Earning an 8.3 score, this season is widely regarded as the emotional peak of the franchise. The narrative shifts focus toward the culmination of the characters' apprenticeships, introducing genuine angst as Akari, Aika, and Alice prepare for their long-awaited promotions to professional gondoliers. While the series maintains its signature charm—complete with anachronistic aesthetics, anthropomorphic pets, and even a classic banana peel gag—it also dives into surprisingly poignant storytelling. Elements like amnesia are thoughtfully used to explore the value of memories and connections in Neo-Venezia. The bishoujo character designs shine as the girls face the bittersweet reality of growing up and moving forward. It is a beautifully crafted farewell that rewards long-time viewers with profound emotional payoff.
