Chihayafuru 3

Competitive passion meets classical Japanese poetry in this highly anticipated third season of the beloved sports series. Produced by Madhouse Inc., these 24 episodes continue to follow Chihaya Ayase and her high school karuta club as they push closer to the national tournament. Karuta is a physically and mentally demanding card game that requires sharp reflexes and a deep familiarity with hundred-year-old poems. The 2019 season ratchets up the tension as the characters face tougher opponents, forcing them to reevaluate their strategies and personal limits. Madhouse blends traditional 2D animation with selective CGI to capture the swift, striking motions of the players on the tatami mat. Beyond the matches themselves, the show shines as a coming-of-age story, exploring the shifting dynamics between childhood friends and teammates. Earning a strong 8.3 score, it remains a must-watch for anyone who appreciates character-driven athletics and intense brain-game showdowns.
