Hataraku Saibou!!

The human body is a vast, chaotic battlefield, and David Production brings this microscopic internal universe to life with explosive action. Airing in the summer of 2018, this 13-episode series uses anthropomorphic cells to turn biology lessons into an adrenaline-fueled adventure. We mostly follow a novice Red Blood Cell tasked with delivering oxygen across a sprawling circulatory highway, constantly getting lost. She frequently crosses paths with a stoic White Blood Cell whose sole purpose is brutally destroying invading pathogens. The 2018 run earns its 7.6 score by making educational concepts genuinely thrilling, using dynamic action sequences and clever character designs to represent various bodily functions, allergies, and diseases. The inclusion of 3D CG animation helps convey the sheer scale of the cellular conflicts. It is an endlessly creative, high-energy viewing experience that manages to teach basic science without ever feeling like a textbook lecture.
