Rilakkuma to Kaoru-san

Dwarf Studios brings a beloved mascot to life through charming stop-motion animation in this 2019 Netflix original. Rilakkuma and Kaoru observes the quiet, everyday life of a young office worker named Kaoru who shares her small apartment with a lazy bear named Rilakkuma, a hyperactive white bear cub, and a small red creature. Over thirteen episodes, the series blends gentle comedy with relatable adult anxieties. Kaoru worries about her career, finances, and social life, while her inexplicable roommates generally just want to eat pancakes and relax. The handmade visual style gives the show a distinct, cozy atmosphere that perfectly matches its slice-of-life tone. By leaning into the bizarre nature of anthropomorphic animals casually living in modern society, the series finds genuine emotional resonance in mundane routines, securing a solid 7.7 rating from viewers seeking a comforting watch.
