Time Jam: Valerian & Laureline

Produced by Satelight in 2007, this 40-episode space adventure adapts a classic French comic into a sprawling science fiction anime. The narrative centers on Valerian and Laureline, two agents tasked with protecting the fabric of time across the universe. When a rogue group attempts to alter history by stealing a vital entity, the duo becomes stranded in a strange future, losing their own timeline. To survive, they must navigate deep outer space, encountering diverse alien races, humanoid civilizations, and fantasy-like worlds. The score of 7.7 reflects a beloved, if somewhat niche, series that relies heavily on episodic exploration and creative worldbuilding. While the animation reflects the standards of its era, the sheer scale of the galaxy-hopping plot and the charming chemistry between the two leads make it a rewarding watch for sci-fi purists.
