3-gatsu no Lion 2nd Season

Shaft's signature visual flair finds its most emotionally resonant expression in this 2017 continuation. Airing in the fall with 22 episodes, the series carries forward a stellar 8.6 score by blending the quiet intensity of professional shogi with deeply personal character arcs. The story continues to follow Rei Kiriyama, a young professional player navigating depression, loss, and the pressures of the board. Meanwhile, the warm presence of the three Kawamoto sisters offers a grounded contrast to his solitary life, especially as themes of childcare and bullying come to the forefront. The show does not just focus on aiming for the top in matches; it renders the internal brain games and psychological toll of the sport with stunning direction. For a manga adaptation that has garnered awards, this second season delivers a contemplative, rewarding viewing experience that requires patience but pays off immensely.
