Akagami no Shirayuki-hime

A rare hair color becomes the catalyst for a life-changing journey in this twelve-episode fantasy romance. Produced by Bones Inc. during the Summer 2015 season, the story follows Shirayuki, a young herbalist who flees her home after a corrupt prince demands she become his concubine due to her striking red hair. Her escape brings her into the company of Zen, a spirited young man who happens to be the second prince of a neighboring kingdom. What begins as a classic boy-meets-girl scenario quickly matures into a tale of apprenticeship, agriculture, and court politics. Earning a 7.8 rating, the anime focuses heavily on the working dynamic between its adult couples as they navigate conspiracies and political maneuvering. Shirayuki works diligently to build her own future through her herbalist skills rather than relying solely on royal connections. The result is a refreshing, grounded adventure driven by mutual respect and shared ambitions.
