Cang Lan Jue

Sharing a body with an ancient demon king sounds like a recipe for disaster, but it makes for excellent comedy and action in this 2022 release. Animated by Stellar Pictures and Garden Culture, Cang Lan Jue adapts a popular cultivation story into a fast-paced 12-episode ONA. The plot kicks off when a timid young fairy accidentally awakens a fearsome demon lord, binding their souls together through a magical curse. What follows is a constant battle for control, resulting in hilarious body-swapping mishaps and reluctant teamwork. Set against a richly designed vision of the afterlife and ancient China, the series blends high-stakes magical combat with a surprisingly tender romance. The animation brings the cultivation world to life with colorful choreography and distinct character designs. Earning a 7.3 score, it delivers a highly entertaining mix of slapstick humor, dramatic twists, and fantasy adventure.
