Mo Dao Zu Shi: Wanjie Pian

Mo Dao Zu Shi: Wanjie Pian carries a more assured dramatic mood across its 12-episode 2021 ONA run. As another chapter in an ancient-China action adventure based on a web novel, it is best approached with an appetite for continuity, shifting chronology, and characters whose choices do not fit tidy heroic labels. The anti-hero focus remains central, while the boys' love tag signals a relationship dynamic that is part of the series' appeal rather than a background detail. CGI shapes the visual presentation, and B.C May Pictures returns among the credited studios. Its 8.5 score places it above the earlier entry, suggesting a particularly strong reception from returning viewers. Wanjie Pian works best when you want serialized fantasy storytelling with action, emotional tension, and details that reward attention rather than a self-contained starting point.
