Tian Guan Cifu

An afterlife setting gives Tian Guan Cifu a natural mix of action, adventure, and spiritual mystery. This 11-episode ONA from 2020 Fall centers its appeal on ancient China-inspired fantasy, beautiful male character designs, and a boys' love relationship threaded through the supernatural stakes. Based on a web novel, the series has room for romantic tension and larger mythology without abandoning the immediate pull of its paired leads. Haoliners Animation League handles the production, and the finished season's 8.3 score reflects a strong reception from viewers drawn to its tone and characters. It is a useful pick for anyone curious about Chinese animation that places BL at the heart of an adventure rather than treating romance as a side note. The short episode count makes the first season a manageable introduction, though its afterlife concepts and serialized storytelling still ask for some patience.
