Haikyu!!

Ten episodes. One match. That is the compact, white-knuckle premise of this 2016 fall season entry from Production I.G, which scored an 8.4 average by narrowing its focus to a single tournament showdown between Karasuno and Shiratorizawa. Where earlier arcs spread attention across a roster of rivals and training camps, this season functions as one extended athletic duel — five sets of volleyball rendered with the studio's signature fluid animation and kinetic camera work. The pacing rarely pauses long enough to breathe. Each episode peels back another layer of pressure: a powerhouse ace who seems unstoppable, a libero pushed to his physical limits, and a first-year setter forced to improvise under conditions he has never faced. The tournament structure means every point carries weight, and the ten-episode length keeps the tension compressed rather than stretched. For viewers already invested in Karasuno's journey, this is the payoff — the moment where months of practice and failure either click into place or fall apart on the court.
