Kuroshitsuji: Kishuku Gakkou-hen

Cloverworks takes the reins for this 2024 adaptation of Yana Toboso's beloved manga, shifting the setting to the oppressive halls of Weston College. As an elite, all-boys boarding school in 19th-century Britain, Weston operates on strict hierarchies and traditions. Ciel Phantomhive, the Queen's Watchdog and a notoriously cunning anti-hero, enrolls as a student to investigate a mysterious disappearance. Naturally, his demon butler Sebastian Michaelis poses as a housemaster's assistant to keep an eye on his young master. Across eleven episodes, the series weaves action drama with the inherent melodrama of academic life, tackling themes of bullying and institutional corruption. The score sits at a respectable 7.9, reflecting a solid return for the franchise that balances dark mystery with the stylish butler-and-master dynamics fans expect. Watching Sebastian effortlessly navigate the school's strict social ladder while Ciel pulls strings from the shadows makes for a highly entertaining watch.
