Natsume's Book of Friends

Calm on the surface and touched by the uncanny underneath, Natsume's Book of Friends is a 2024 fall TV series built around drama, supernatural encounters, and youkai. Its 12-episode format makes the show approachable as a seasonal watch, while the iyashikei tag signals a preference for soothing atmosphere over constant intensity. Shuka’s involvement connects the production to a studio associated here with the Natsume title, and the 8.5 score marks this entry as especially well received. The appeal lies in contrast: gentle viewing comfort beside the possibility of emotional or eerie turns, with the supernatural serving as a source of feeling as much as fantasy. Viewers looking for a polished series that can settle into a quiet evening will find a clear invitation here. It is less about spectacle than mood, empathy, and the lingering effect of encounters with youkai.
