NegaPosi Angler

Studio Nut brought out an original project in the Fall 2024 anime season that meshes everyday despair with unexpected absurdity. This twelve-episode series follows Tsunehiro, a college student drowning in debt and bad luck, whose life takes a bizarre turn after he is rescued from drowning by a passionate angler. Suddenly, fishing becomes his unlikely lifeline. The show earns its 7.3 rating by balancing the heavy reality of financial ruin with high-energy comedy. A significant portion of the humor relies on expressive chibi art shifts and quirky side characters, including cosplaying convenience store workers. The fishing mechanics serve as a vehicle for the protagonist's personal growth, framing his journey from a pessimistic victim of circumstance to someone willing to fight for a catch. It is a uniquely weird yet endearing drama about finding a community that accepts you and your baggage.
