Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S

J.C. Staff returned in 2013 to deliver a highly acclaimed sequel, scoring an impressive 8.0 across 24 episodes. Set in an alternative present within Academy City, the story focuses on the dark underbelly of scientific advancement and artificial intelligence. The narrative follows Mikoto Misaka, a powerful electromaster attending an all-girls boarding school, as she confronts a horrific underground project. Her fierce determination and emotional struggles take center stage, grounding the high-concept sci-fi elements in relatable character drama. The animation studio handles the intense action sequences wonderfully, balancing flashy, calling-your-attacks combat with deeply personal stakes. With a cast of compelling female leads, the show expertly explores themes of friendship, morality, and the ethical limits of science. Based on a manga, this energetic action series provides a thrilling ride from start to finish.
